Register for Your Local Damage Prevention Meeting

The Minnesota Common Ground Alliance invites all who share the goal of preventing damages and increasing awareness for the use of best practices to register for their local Damage Prevention meeting. DP meetings are held by and for the excavation community each year in March and April. They are focused on safe digging and best practices education.

GSOC Teases New Social Media Campaign for January

You may have noticed a post made on November 4, 2019, on GSOC’s Facebook page. The post features behind-the-scenes photographs starring GSOC’s Chief Operations Officer, Barbara Cederberg, alongside the Gopher State One Call vehicle at a jobsite.

We’ve been hard at work creating a brand-new social media campaign that supports learning from and sharing safety information with the excavation industry. GSOC is looking forward to this initiative to help bring the Minnesota excavation community together. (There is safety in numbers, after all.)

CenturyLink Transition to USIC as Locator Effective 12/2/19

On April 1, 2019, CenturyLink changed underground facility locate vendors from USIC (US Infrastructure Company) to Unitek (under their DirectSat subsidiary). We made this change to improve our performance, diversify vendors, and improve the competitive landscape of underground location companies. This transition was met with significant challenges.

We have continually pursued and implemented solutions to improve our locate performance. We listened to feedback regarding our new locate vendor and, as a result, we are transitioning from DirectSat/Unitek back to USIC. The transition will be complete by December 2, 2019. CenturyLink recognizes the importance of effectively managing transitions like this to ensure prompt locate work and has chosen a historically slower locate season time to transition back to USIC. CenturyLink, USIC, and Unitek/DirectSat are all committed to cooperatively ensuring a smooth transition for all concerned stakeholders with minimum disruption to excavator activities and expectations.

CenturyLink’s locate point of contacts are listed on your GSOC ticket for both marking concerns and/or damages. If local field assistance is required, these points of contact will engage the appropriate personnel from USIC and/or CenturyLink.

Winter Business Hours and Holiday Observance Notice

This is an update regarding holiday observances and our late fall and early winter hours.

From November 1 to Match 31, Gopher State One Call business hours will be 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday through Friday. Emergency calls are exempt from business hours and are always accepted. All non-emergency locate requests can be submitted online 24 hours a day, seven days a week, but are processed during business hours.
